When we arrived at Hermosa Beach courtyard, we stopped for lunch at a restaurant. The waiters were very friendly and setup the tables for us. The food was reasonable and very healthy. We had a good time chatting with each other. ![]()

The Manhattan AVP Open is to beach volleyball what the Super Bowl is to the NFL, the Daytona 500 is to NASCAR, the Masters is to golf. It's more than a tournament, it's a statement. Win Manhattan, and you have reached the pinnacle of the sport. An estimated 6,000 people filled the stands, lined the pier and crowded the bike path. Over 2,000 bikes parked and chained on AVP site.

AVP stands for the Association of Volleyball Professionals, but this tournament has been around long before there was such an organization. It is such a part of this Southern California surfside city that people turn out by the thousands, sitting on towels, in beach chairs or just on the sand cheering on the pros of the game they play on these same courts the rest of the year. In fact, the sport was born on this very beach.
WRAD will be happy to host another Bike Day next year in August 2007. We think August is a good month of the year
for bike riding. Let us know if you would like to host a bike day other than the bike path in Santa Monica as we
are more than happy to help you coordinate the bike events elsewhere. Watch for other upcoming events prepared by
the WRAD organization like the beach party with Tri-County GLAD on Saturday August 26th at Marina Park in Ventura,
California. For further info, visit our website or www.ohsoez.com to look at
updated calendar of events in the deaf and hard of hearing community.
