Sailing the Greek Islands

July 21 to August 4, 2012

"As a traveler, this is a great experience and learned many new skills. This is the best adventure I ever had." - Adam J

"Awesome + unique experience! Deaf-friendly excursion." - S Kay

This Greek Sailing Adventure is specifically designed for those who would like to enjoy the physical aspects of the outdoors, the sea, and sailing. Unspoiled by tourism, we will sail the spectacular Cyclades Islands where the rolling hills meet the rhythm of pounding waves. Once aboard the Bavaria 44 sailing yacht you immediately begin learning the skills of sailing where wind and weather play a key role in your expedition planning. The group will decide to either cook on the yacht, or experience the rich culture of the beautiful Greek coastal ports and secluded anchorages. When possible, we will find a local bakery for breakfast pastry, and/or a local taverna for dinner. We will have plenty of time to go swimming, snorkeling, prepare and cook delicious meals, rent mopeds around small island villages, and/or stay on the yacht and enjoy sunbathing all day and relaxing, with great views of coastal sunsets.

Start dates and end dates are confirmed as shown below. Wind direction, the group's interests, and weather will all play a key role in our destination planning. Having fun is the most important part of vacation and sailing, and safety is always our first priority.

Saturday July 21, 2012: Meet the group at 6pm at Kalamaki Harbor and Yacht Club marina in Alimos, on the coast south of Athens City Center. That evening we will walk as a group to a local sailor's restaurant, and sleep on the yacht.

Sunday July 22, 2012: Depart for the open seas, and have brunch off the coast of Sounio as we anchor at the southern tip of Attica. Our evening will be spent in the small port of Vourkari on the northern shore of the Island of Kea.

We will sail to Cyclades Islands such as: Kea, Syros, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Serifos, and Kythnos. We will have plenty of time to go swimming, snorkeling, prepare and cook delicious meals, rent mopeds around small island villages, and/or stay on the yacht and enjoy sunbathing all day and relaxing, with great views of coastal sunsets. Contact us for more details.

Friday August 3, 2012: Return sail to Kalamaki Harbor and Yacht Club marina, for a mid-afternoon arrival to begin simple clean up. We will again walk as a group to a local sailor's restaurant, and we will sleep on the yacht that evening.

Saturday August 4, 2012: Early breakfast and finish packing your gear for 9am departure.
