Everyone is welcome to the exciting event including sign language students and
hearing friends/families of the deaf community.
Games and activities are also planned including
volleyball, tugowar, bathing suit and muscular contests.
Parking is FREE. Free admission to the beach.
Come one, come all. Tell others to come too.
Enjoy Marina Park where you can walk, bike, fly a kite, have a barbeque,
or just relax and watch the surf, sky, and sailboats. You can stroll along
Ventura Harbor, or at Channel Islands Harbor, which is 10 minutes away.
Last year was a big success with over 100 people
and we are looking forward to go there again. Bring your own food including having
a BBQ as there are BBQ grills at the park on
the beach. Come early to find parking. More information about Marina Park (South
end of Pierpont Boulevard) is 15 acres of beachfront fun located next to the Ventura
Harbor. Colorful sailboats can be seen from pathways and lookout points as they leave
the harbor while windsurfers slice across the ocean and children climb aboard the
play ship San Salvador. Individual picnic/barbecue facilities, sand volleyball court,
a hand-launch boat dock, children play area and restrooms can also be found at the
park. Directions: From the 101 take the Seaward Avenue exit and turn towards the
ocean. Drive until you reach Pierpont Avenue. Turn left and drive until you reach
the end of the road.
Both Julianna Fjeld of Tri-County GLAD and Bruce Gross of WRAD, Inc.
are co-coordinators for this event.
