Hello Friends o f the WRAD Community:
Next year we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary
and it is going to be a great milestone for WRAD as
we are representing the community of deaf and hard of
hearing persons that are deaf or hard of hearing and
their families and friends. We would like for your
inputs and feedback for different activities and events
next year as we welcome your ideas and suggestions so
please email us at wradceo@aol.com. Your support is
greatly appreciated. Please remember that WRAD is
composed of prelingual deaf leaders on the Board and
we are advocating for our rights as deaf citizens.
Are you on our Evite list to receive invitations
to attend community events? You are welcome to receive
Evite invitations as they are free and open to the public.
Just let us know at wradceo@aol.com and we will add you
to our Evite list.
We welcome and support our
affiliates. For example, we were approached by a group of
deaf people preparing the Deaf Pirate party in Huntington
Beach, California on June 7th and we were happy to announce
their event on our WRAD website at www.wrad.org. We were
also invited to have our booth at the Deaf Asia Festival
on Saturday June 14th in Los Angeles and were happy to
announce their event on our website as well. It is good
to have affiliates to help other groups of the deaf and
more people will know more about us as well. Hats off to
our affiliates for their support!
Good news!
We are going back to 6 Flags Magic Mountain for our Deaf
Awareness Day there on Saturday October 11, 2008 as they
will have Frightfest for Halloween and some new exciting
rides including the X2 ride. Our tickets will go on sale
in June so look for them on our website soon.
Our two cruises are going well. The one to the Mexican
Riviera from October 26 to November 2, 2008 is fast approaching
and we still have cabin spaces on our Royal Caribbean
International ship, Vision of the Seas. Our prices are
excellent starting at $380 per person plus $300 taxes and
tips. Hope you can join us to Mexico for one week. We will
also have a cruise to Alaska from July 25 to August 1, 2009
as part of our 25th anniversary celebration so you can look
up more information at www.wrad.org or go to the travel website
at www.deaftravelclub.com.
I will be attending the
National Association of the Deaf Convention in New Orleans early
in July and look forward to meeting other deaf and hard of hearing
people including leaders from different organizations as we need
to keep them upfront about latest research information on deafness
including our fight for the rights of speech disabled persons.
We will post more details from our research department about
deafness in the near future so look for it on our WRAD website.
Have a great summer and hope to see you in our events
and activities including Cafe Blanc in New York City on Friday May
30th as I will be spending some time in NYC to attend the 100th
anniversary of PS 47 in Manhattan.
Please visit www.wrad.org
from time to time to get information about our events and activities.
We also post our events through Caldeaf at www.caldeaf.com and
www.ohsoez.com
